Banks urged to use clear glass as security measure
By Marna H. Dagumboy

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Pampanga Provincial Police Director Keith Ernald Singian has appealed to members of the bankers' association here to use clear glass as security measure to deter robbery incidents.

Singian made the appeal following the broad daylight robbery of Porac Bank along McArthur Highway in Barangay Dolores here last April 30 wherein about P200,000 in cash was carted away by robbers who are still at large.

The Pampanga police chief asked the bankers to use transparent glass windows and not tined ones as a security measure.

This, Singian explained, will enable people passing in front of banks to see what is going on inside the banks and could readily ask for police assistance in cases of robbery.

He said at least two security guards should be detailed for every bank.

Earlier, Superintendent Renato Soria, chief of the City of San Fernando who recently went on leave, sacked the chief of the Community Police Assistance Center (Compac) 2 and his three men for their failure to promptly respond to the Porac Bank heist.

Soria himself was given a 72-hour ultimatum by Singian to arrest the bank robbery suspects or he will be removed from his post in this city. The suspects, however, remain at large as of Thursday afternoon.

It was learned that Soria recently went on leave. But there were reports that Singian actually relieved the city police chief from his post for his failure to arrest the bank robbers.
