MABALACAT -- A "unity walk" among elected government officials has drawn attention during the recent Pamisaupan Caravan in Barangay Sapang Biabas here on Tuesday.
Walking as one long line of pillar, Pampanga Governor Eddie Panlilio, this town's Mayor Marino Morales, first district Representative Carmelo Lazatin, and barangay officials here made the symbolic walk to "prove the very essence of helping one another" as embodied in the Pamisaupan caravan of the Provincial Government.
Lazatin emphasized in his message during the event that it is a great help for Mabalacat's progress that the governor, the mayor, and barangay officials are in good rapport with one another.
"This is the very first time that all the basic services of the Provincial Government are personally delivered to the people of Mabalacat by the governor himself together with the department heads of the Capitol," Lazatin said.
Morales, on the other hand, was grateful over the outpouring of support for his constituents in Mabalacat. He believed that his town is blessed because of the remarkable prospects for development made possible by the support of the congressman and encouragement of the governor.
The Pamisaupan Caravan is the flagship project of the Provincial Government in the delivery of basic social services to different parts of the province. The Caravan has delivered basic services to about 700 individuals from Sapang Biabas and nearby barangays.
The services include medical and dental check-up, Operation Tule, free medicines, film showing, storytelling and book reading, job referrals, skills training, micro-financing for livelihood projects, vegetable seeds distribution, anti-rabies vaccination, pre-marriage counseling, family planning, free haircut, free reading glasses, and sports clinic.
Support groups like the Lion's Club of Angeles-Clark-Dau and the Rotary Club of Mabalacat help supplement the services of the Provincial Government.
