Cops arrest fleeing suspect

ANGELES CITY -- A man suspected of stealing a piece of clothing from a mall in the city was apprehended by police the other day while fleeing with his loot along the Clark area here.

Policemen from Station 4 led by Police Inspector Mauro Mallari were conducting a mobilized patrol at the vicinity of SM City Clark here when they spotted the suspect being chased by a the security guard at the exit of said mall.

Apprehended was Alvin Rodriguez Espiritu, 23, single and a resident of Purok 5, Barangay Sto Cristo in Guagua Pampanga. Recovered from his possession was one tribal cargo short pants worth P1,399.

Investigations conducted by the police disclosed that suspect went to the Boys and Teens Wear Section of the said mall and took the item without paying for it at the counter. A case of theft was filed against the suspect.

Meanwhile, another suspect for snatching was arrested also by elements of Police Station 4 in front of the Robinsons Mall in MacArthur Hi-way, Balibago here shortly after a concerned citizen reported the incident.

Immediately, a team led by Police Inspector Mauro proceeded to the area and there, victim Rodelia Garata Alfonso approached the lawmen and disclosed that a male snatcher grabbed her pouch bag containing assorted items, a cell phone and cash.

A follow-up operation resulted to the arrest of Fernando Bulatao Santos, 19, single and resident of Morsier in Conception, Tarlac. Recovered from him were the pouch bag and its contents. Charges are being readied against the suspect.

Police Superintendent Felixberto Castillo, officer-in-charge (OIC) of the Angeles City Police Office, commended the policemen for their timely response in both incidents, which resulted to the in arrest of the suspects.
