Tulabut: Interesting
By Noel G. Tulabut
My Palm Notes

ATTORNEY Dimaliwat may have shelved his political plans in the meantime but he could not just shed off his willingness to help the needy ones. He has such a golden heart and I would not be surprised should people would clamor for him to run for a public office.

So local, yet interesting.

I am talking about basketball leagues that are being held all over.

Arroyo Watch: Sun.Star blog on President Arroyo

Summer does not only mean trips to the beaches but also sporting events.

In the barangay level, it can really get so interesting with basketball tournaments that are being watched by families. In our locality, for example, we have just concluded a tournament for Juniors and Seniors.

I want to congratulate not only Mapanganiv and Tiglao General Hospital who emerged as champions in the junior and senior divisions, respectively, but also the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) and the Council of Barangay San Joaquin.

What I found to be more interesting is the cooperation of the Council and local residents who simply get their acts together. In fact, a "second conference" of sort is forthcoming to manifest this even more.

When this column article comes out, the "Daddy Ku" league would be underway. It is a basketball league to be participated in by 40-year-olds and above and those that did not join the senior division in the concluded conference.

Daddy Ku is actually the idea of Atty. Francis Dimaliwat, the hardworking general manager of Mabalacat Water District (MWD) who happens to be a neighbor too. And it has fast taken shape with the help of Kapitan Dave Davidson.

Daddy Ku league, for all I know, has only been staged in our barangay.

And like their past stagings, this one will be another interesting and amusing league.

Talk about Atty. Dimaliwat, this guy is making things work. He has done a lot of wonders both at work and at our community. MWD has really expanded under his watch, giving focus on consumer satisfaction and convenience.

Potable water - being a very important part of our daily lives - is also being made available to far wider and greater areas in Mabalacat through the expansion programs implemented by MWD.

And not only that, the good lawyer who happens to be a licensed civil engineer at same time is also mindful of the welfare of MWD employees.

He has implemented programs for better salary and compensation packages.

MWD has also implemented various socio-civic and charity work such as free medical, dental and optical check ups that went with free medicines and spectacles too for the needy residents of Mabalacat.

Attorney Dimaliwat may have shelved his political plans in the meantime but he could not just shed off his willingness to help the needy ones. He has such a golden heart and I would not be surprised should people would clamor for him to run for a public office.

The outreach project of Smart Communications (SMART) in cooperation with Pampanga Press Club on Friday was a huge success!

It was held at the much improved and truly world-class Fontana Leisure Parks, where the kids were treated to swimming, games, entertainment an art workshop by Pampanga Arts Guild.

Prior to that, the 40 orphans from Mabalacat were given a tour at the Clark Museum with no less that Curator Tita Cefie Yepez, of Clark Development Corporation, giving the kids some background about Clark.

They were also given stuffed toys by distributors of Hansa Toys International from the US and Spain. Mayor Marino Morales and Fontana General Manager Matthew Lai also found time to be with the kids.

What I find to be overwhelming is the cooperation between and among the major sponsors of the event dubbed as Ate, Kuya Day, which was part of the annual outreach initiative of Smart.

And what is even more significant is the joy and laughter the kids had in the one-day event. Seeing kids with utmost joy was just so fulfilling. It is far more important than having few thousand pesos more in anyone's pockets.

I am just so glad that this outreach was carried out by Smart and all the rest of the event partners.
