Lubao Bantay Bayan chief killed

LUBAO -- The chief of Bantay Bayan in a barangay here was shot dead by four still unidentified men in front of his house Wednesday morning.

The victim was identified as Ramil Manlapaz, 32, head of the Bantay Bayan in Barangay Lourdes here.

According to his wife Sharon, the victim woke up early that day and was sitting in front of their house while shaving when a dark red car stopped in front of their house at 6 a.m. Four men armed with long and short firearms alighted from the car and shot Manlapaz.

The victim sustained five bullet wounds in the head and body.

The suspects fled towards the National Highway.

The victim's wife was unharmed.

Witnesses failed to get the car's plate number.

Police are still determining the motives behind the killing.
