The event, which was a celebration of Kapampangan, art featured Polosa renditions from a couple of Kapampangan poets.
Leading the celebration last week was Alaya president Herminigildo Pineda. Alaya Chamber of the Arts is a young organization of artists from the province who have banded together to pursue the "Movement of Kapampangan Art" which Pineda said is slowly taking root, though slowly, and eventually be recognized in the national art scene.
Pineda's works have found their way into the collections of big names and even government establishments.
The group has been closely working on joining provincial celebrations and events to take the chance of promoting local arts. Currently, the group holds office at the Wow Philippines Hilaga (formerly Paskuhan Village) under the good auspices of the Department of Tourism.
The group has joined exhibits in the City of San Fernando and Angeles City for a couple of times.
Formally opening the exhibit were board members Edna David and Lina Bagasina. Both have been supporting the group in other exhibits.
"It is amazing that we have artists like them faithfully practicing their art in the province. Their works are almost comparable to old Filipino Masters in terms of workmanship and detail," said David, who owns a couple of works from Alaya artists.
Various art renditions were again presented by artists Andy Ramos, Yet Orquia, Joel Mallari, Alvin Dungca, Efren Erese and Rey Gatmaitan.
Unlike other artists, the Alaya members work closely with local Kapampangan themes which render their artworks that unique touch that distinguishes them from the mainstream art.
The group is currently cooking another bigger event before the month is over.
