PB to refute guv's claims

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Provincial Board (PB) will hold a press conference in Manila next week to disprove Governor Eddie Panlilio's statements during the celebration of his first year anniversary in office.

This was disclosed by first district Board Member Crisostomo Garbo, who said he had proposed to the PB that they would hold the press conference in Manila.

When asked why they opt to hold it in Manila, Garbo said Panlilio "has been fond of taking issues of his government in the national level" and that it is just fair for them to also "bring the truth in the province to the national level."

The PB's plan was conceived last Monday after Panlilio, in his speech during the celebration of his first year anniversary in office at the Benigno Aquino Hall here, criticized the PB for the alleged "belt-tightening" and "hardships" being encountered by his administration.

"The people must know the truth and we will give our side in a press conference in Manila," Garbo said.

Garbo, who gave Panlilio a failing mark for his first year's performance, said the governor's comments were "unfair" and "untrue."

"He (Panlilio) should not divert the people. He is telling the people that we are not approving anything but the truth is we have approved among his requests," he said.

"He is saying that he is working for 14 hours but to what result? No result!" Garbo exclaimed.

The board member said the PB would present its side during the press conference in Manila to be scheduled sometime next week.

Last week, members of the Pampanga Mayors' League held a press conference in Quezon City to criticize what they described as the "autocratic" leadership of Panlilio and declared "war" against the province's chief executive. (IOF)
