Cops told to be courteous to public
By Alejandro Tampus

CAMP OLIVAS -- Police officers have been told to be courteous to the people but be strong and cautious in dealing with criminals.

This was stressed during the celebration of the Police Community Relations (PCR) month here recently.

Arroyo Watch: Sun.Star blog on President Arroyo

"Every police personnel shall at all times be in proper decorum, well-mannered in or out of duty, must be courteous in dealing with people but strong and cautious in handling crimes," Central Luzon Police Director Errol Pan said.

Policemen in Pampanga and other provinces of the region were also told to be "open-hearted in willingness to serve and protect every citizen."

Meanwhile, Senior Superintendent Angelito Pacia, regional police chief of staff, said while restaurant crews of leading food chains can by heart express courteous greeting words to customers to create a good customer relations atmosphere, there's no reason why educated police personnel trained for public servant-hood cannot practice the same while performing their lawful duties.

On July 9, police officials and personnel will conduct mass bloodletting hosted by PCR here to be undertaken jointly by the Camp Olivas medical team and Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) Region 3.

The blood donors will include the 100 Philippine National Police (PNP) trainees from the PNP Training Center in Magalang town.
