The organization was able to gather the most successful gays in various fields of profession.
According to Randy del Rosario, vice president of Rosas, the organization was encouraged and supported by Santa Rita Mayor Yolly Pineda who facilitated the induction of the members and officers in a masquerade ball at the Santa Rita Covered Court last June 21.
“Our group is a non-stock, non-profit association of male homosexuals - transvestites or cross-dressers, transsexuals, bisexuals, butch-types - residing in Santa Rita,” del Rosario said, adding that the organization is the first of its kind in Pampanga’s second district.
Del Rosario added that the purpose of the association is to unite all male homosexuals in Santa Rita in the spirit of love and understanding and all the while changing the negative views on male homosexuals.
Various activities and projects were also lined up this year to provide opportunity to the gay sector here in terms of livelihood opportunities.
“The gay community is one of the most talented sectors of our community. They deserve a chance to better them and contribute to community progress and development,” del Rosario said.
In line with this, Rosas will hold on July 11 its first “Libreng Gupit, Urud at Kule” at the Santa Rita Covered Court. The event will be held simultaneously with the medical, dental mission, National Food Authority (NFA) rice distribution, and the inauguration of the Santa Rita Training Center.
The best hairdressers of Santa Rita will provide free hair services to indigent senior citizens and children.
This Rosas activity is in connection with the first year anniversary of Pineda as the mayor of Santa Rita. (IOF)
