The group retained NUJP-Pampanga Banner Central Luzon editor Ashley Manabat as its chairman. Other officers are Banner columnist-reporter Fred Villareal, vice chairperson; Glenn Tabelisma of UNTV, secretary; Jhodie Mercado of CLTV Channel 36, treasurer; and Mylene Valencia of ABS-CBN Pampanga, auditor.
Sixteen NUJP members in the province attended the election at the Yats-International food and beverage.
The NUJP is a lateral guild committed to securing the interests of the Filipino working press. It binds journalists to a covenant to ethical conduct and commitment to the public trust.
The group seeks to promote and safeguard the economic interest and social well-being of the working press, upgrade professional skills, raise the standards of journalistic ethics, carry out welfare program for its members, and foster fraternal solidarity with all journalists everywhere.
It aims to raise the standards of journalistic ethics toward the end goal of securing press freedom and protecting the integrity of the working press in the country. It upholds the Journalists' Code of Ethics which strictly stipulates that its members shall not let personal motives or interests influence them in the performance of their duties, nor shall they accept or offer any present, gift or other consideration of a nature that may cast doubt on their professional integrity.
