Sunday, July 20, 2008 Gueco: Energetic logistics By Malu T. Gueco
"WE ARE creating tomorrow by building on today."
This empowering vision expressed by Secretary Ed D. Pamintuan lights up every nook and cranny of the Subic-Clark growth corridor. Truly, this sentiment speaks directly to our hearts because we all yearn for progress, prosperity and promising opportunities for Pampanga.
Unveiling work on the master plan of the Subic-Clark Alliance for Development Council (SCADC), he pinpointed the emergence of a thriving logistics center to be built on our Philippine soil.
Sec Ed's Vision
"We vow to complete the work in establishing a world-class logistics hub. Opening up the global gateway from the Asia-Pacific region, ultimately, we will crisscross the four corners of the globe.
Taking off from Clark and landing in Canberra, Australia; streaming from Luzon to Laos; flying from Angeles City to Los Angeles, California, USA; truly, we will beam off our élan vital (vital energy) aviation lights. Showing to the world how the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport (DMIA) profiles cutting edge aviation services."
These were the inspiring words from Secretary Pamintuan.
What an enlightening flight plan towards success!
Kudos, Secretary Pamintuan on your monumental mission.
Working in harmony with your power team at the SCADC office, you exemplify creativity. You lead men and women who personify the Kapampangan traits of positivism, productive endeavor and professionalism.
Logistics
Now let us zoom in our lenses into a prototype logistics complex, you and I will be amazed to view their busy bee undertaking.
Propelling the flow of goods, cargo, resources, including people and energy, logistics is the golden key in unlocking the doorway to world transport. Speeding up the channels of distribution, it facilitates the linkages between producers and consumers.
You and I may wonder -- where did logistics originate?
Parting the curtains of history, we see the past from this perspective of early civilization: Walking rapidly in their military sandals, Greek officers march from one camp to another. Hearing the click-clock of their footsteps, the Greek soldiers welcome their presence with overflowing relief. Unleashing financial/food/freewheel supply lines, these men proffer material abundance.
"Logistikas" is the Greek name given to these proud and honorable set of leaders. They formed the legions of battlers from 323 BC onwards. Leading them with passion, Alexander the Great and other resolute generals, directed them in winning territories from Syria to Mesopotamia, furthermore, from Iran to India.
Worthily, history repeats the record of achievement from the early Greek times, verily, fast-forwarding it into this great 21st century.
