CLARK FREEPORT -- The Clark Development Corporation (CDC) has approved the US$18-million expansion project of Widus International Leisure, Inc., owner and developer of Hotel Vida inside this freeport zone.
CDC president Liberato Laus said he signed the supplemental lease agreement with Widus president Daesik Han for its expansion project.
Widus previously forged an agreement with CDC for development of a 1.9-hectare property along M.A. Roxas Highway here. It has ventured into the second and third phases of its project, which will bring in tourists inside the zone.
The agreement with CDC gives Widus a 50-year lease right to use and develop an additional 2.5-hectare of prime property into water theme park, villas, convention facilities and the second tower of Hotel Vida.
Construction is expected to start on the last quarter of this year. Once completed, it is expected to generate employment for residents outside this former base.
Widus has over 100 workers and is expected to add 150 more once the second phase is completed.
"We are keen on completing the development of the entire 6.2-hectare property by 2012. I am very positive that our project will soon be the most sought after hotel-casino-resort facility in the Philippines," Han said.
The second phase development project highlights the development of a vast nature-inspired water theme park.
Widus finished its first phase development with the opening of its pilot project, the Hotel Vida, on July 1.
Hotel Vida, the home of Widus Vacation Club, now offers a total luxury getaway experience with its 125 rooms consisting of the Deluxe, Junior Suite, One Bedroom Suite, and Presidential Suite. (RGN)
