City bans motorcades due to oil price hikes
By Reynaldo G. Navales

ANGELES City Mayor Francis Nepomuceno has issued a memorandum ordering a total ban on motorcades due to the increasing prices of oil products.

Nepomuceno stressed this is in line with the austerity measures being implemented by the City Government.

The mayor said his administrations' overall commitment is to make the most of public funds and promote energy conservation to cope with the present crisis on petroleum products.

The city, he added, adheres to the National Government's Administrative Order (AO) 126, which aims to address the extraordinary increases in world's oil prices.

The energy conservation program of the government should also be disseminated to the public in order to create a sustained and intensive program of information and education on energy conservation measures and the efficient utilization of energy, according to Nepomuceno.

He stressed that the government should set an example and take the lead in imposing restraints against excessive spending.

The local chief executive also enjoined all departments and offices to review existing operating and administrative processes and conservation programs.

He also encouraged City Government employees and other government workers to embark in carpooling or to offer free ride to fellow workers in the government.

"Banning of motorcades will also encourage a healthier, cost-efficient and environment-friendly way of promoting businesses," Nepomuceno added.
