Sow the seeds of violence, woundedness and aggression; consequently, you will reap the painful destruction of your own hometown, province and country. Like a cold, callous and calculating stone, you will always lay in the field of dark negativity.
In great contrast, opt to do good, uplift the hand of your sister/brother or propel the engines of nation building, thereon, you will harvest the gems of benevolence. During the blackest night of crisis, like the glowing diamond, you will spread the flame of courage.
Founding La Liga Filipina way back in the 19th century, Dr. Rizal lit up the torch of freedom. Taking the bullets of death on the unclouded December morning, he ignited the fires of raging protests from Bagumbayan to Biak-na-Bato.
Now, fast forward to our 21st century, his legacy of patriotism lives on and on...
Just today, August 2, 2008, Inquirer Mindanao emblazoned this update:
"Rizal arrived here on July 17, 1892 (Dapitan City) and built a historical paradise in Barangay Talisay. He built a clinic, a school, library and water system for agricultural production in the village. Some of them still exist today."
What an edifice he set up for all seasons!
Knights of Rizal
Presently, personifying the Rizalian values of truth, freedom and service to all, the Knights of Rizal (KOR) gallantly waves the flag of patriotism in our Philippine heartlands. Furthermore, they have established chapters in other countries, like the USA, to animate fellow Rizalian idealists.
Recognized by law since June 14, 1951 via Republic Act 646, they were given a legislative charter to carry out their societal, civic and nationalistic endeavors,
Last May 25, 2008, they elected Sir Reghis M. Romero II, KGOR, as Supreme Chancellor. Thereto, Sir Virgilio R. Esguerra, KGCR, was voted as the Supreme Commander.
"Kapampangans are leaders in paving the way of fortitude, bravery and nationalism," states Sir Reghis M. Romero II. Exemplifying the Rizalian code of ethics, SIR REGHIS inspires our Kabalens, particularly our young people, in dedicating their lives to the common good.
Angeles City Chapter
On August 9, Saturday, the KOR- Angeles City Chapter will hold their induction ceremonies. Chapter Commander Sir Paul M. Santos spearheads this distinguished local group, which is composed of approximately 120 members.
"We vow to sustain the honorable Rizalian code of conduct. Standing tall on the principles of sacrifice, selflessness and supreme valor, we will reach the heights of national progress," Sir Paul emphasizes.
What a heartening ideal for all of us to emulate!
Yes! Today, we join our brothers and sisters in their march towards the peak of achievement. Yes! We honor the great Malayan exemplar in the person of Dr. Jose Rizal. Yes! He lives on as the excellent icon now and forever.
