GUAGUA -- In order to improve the lives of women in this first-class municipality, the Soroptimist International here has lined up various activities for the Soroptimist Week from August 25 to 31.
Alma Twaño, president of the Guagua chapter of Soroptomist International, said a number of activities like tree-planting, family day, adopting a Philippine National Police (PNP) women's and children's desk, bowling tournament, mass, and eco-social livelihood programs, will highlight the celebration.
She said Second District Congressman Mikey Arroyo has agreed to sponsor a therapeutic acupressure massage seminar in coordination with her group, Service Ministry of St. James Parish, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
She said the Soroptimist International of Guagua will also make a courtesy call to Mayor Ricardo Rivera, Vice Mayor Anthony Twaño and members of the Municipal Council.
She said the Soroptimist International's mission is to help improve the lives of women and girls locally and globally.
Meanwhile, Twaño initiated on Thursday the widening and clearing of the provincial road along the Sta. Rita and Guagua road from Caltex gasoline station to Pelco II office, with the assistance of the provincial engineering office.
Twaño also led the clean and green program in the town in coordination with the local chief executive.
