Medical aid arrives at Capitol

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The first of two 40-foot container vans loaded with medical supplies from Detroit, Michigan-based World Medical Relief, Inc. (WRMI) arrived last Friday afternoon at the provincial Capitol.

The van contained boxes of brand new blankets and bed sheets, hundreds of hospital beds, crutches, wheelchairs, assorted medical supplies and emergency kits, portable oxygen tanks, computer sets and valuable diagnostic and life-saving equipment as well as two and four-tier filing cabinets.

According to Governor Eddie Panlilio, who personally received the first of two shipments, the aid was sourced and sponsored by Doctors Jose and Estrella Evangelista from WMRI.

"The two doctors are advocates of the province's program to help improve the state of government-run hospitals in Pampanga by providing them with essential medical supplies equipment to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of health care services to the people of Pampanga," Panlilio said.

On Saturday noon, personnel of beneficiary hospitals arrived at the Capitol to load in their respective ambulances their share of the pre-allocated supplies and equipment.

Hospitals that would benefit from this first shipment of medical supplies include the district hospitals of Romana, Porac, San Luis and Balitucan in Magalang; the Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital in Guagua; and the Ricardo Rodriguez Memorial Hospital in this capital city.

The governor added that the next shipment is expected to arrive "very soon." (JTDL)
