Thursday, August 28, 2008 Chamber talks on ethics to members
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PamCham) has clarified that the practice of proper business ethics is the key in handling competition among its members.
During an orientation for its new members at the Carworld Conference Center along Jose Abad Santos Avenue last Tuesday Arch. Eric Geronimo of Q.A. Design Construction inquired from the directors present how the chamber handles competition among the members.
PamCham director Andy Gulapa clarified that the practice of proper business ethics is the key, especially in the engineering and architecture profession.
Another director also said what seals a deal is the quality of the product and the service that goes with the acquisition of the said item.
Professionalism is also considered.
Thirty participants responded to the invitation of the chamber to find out what PamCham is all about during the orientation.
Directors present in the event include Jim Jimenez, Architect Andy Gulapa, and Reggie Fabros.
PamCham president Rene Romero welcomed the new members to the chamber and encouraged them to participate in the various activities of the business group.
He also encouraged members to attend committee meetings.
He further said that it is in the committee levels where actual networking and business promotion is realized.
It is also where committee members get to know each other better business-wise and gain a client, customer or even partner in the process.
During the orientation new members were told of the chamber's objective and goal which is to promote business and enhance networks of influence in the local, national and even global business community.
Romero said it is the chamber's mandate to promote all legitimate businesses in Pampanga indiscriminately, be they micro, small, medium or large companies.
Moreover, the principles of Internal Patronage and Big Brother-Small Brother are advocated and practiced by PamCham members.
In fact, product promotion and selling are always encouraged during General Membership Meetings and other gatherings regularly organized by the chamber.
As far as the chamber is concerned, the playing field is level and PamCham encourages "COOPETITION" - cooperation in competition.
PamCham continues with its relentless advocacies in eliminating obstacles in business development and enhancement.
Romero also talked on the two strategic thrusts actively pursued by the chamber: business promotion and business advocacy.
Business Advocacy paves the way for a better business environment through PamCham's constant collaboration and consultation.
The induction of the new members of the chamber will be on its 24th General Membership Meeting and Election of the Board Members on September 11 at the Holiday Inn, 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
