Balas boys, supporters set to hold 'big' rally
By Ian Ocampo Flora

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The terminated members of the Biyaya A Luluguran at Sisikapan (Balas) and their supporters are set to stage a big rally on Friday in a bid to "educate" other Kapampangans on the sad plights of the former quarry task force workers.

Balas supporter and former Capitol employee Roperlee Syquia said that plans have been finalized for the holding of a rally that will be participated in by civil society groups.

The rally is expected to start from the busy intersection of Jose Abad Santos Avenue (Jasa) and McArthur Highway at 9 a.m.

Rally participants will bear placards and signages calling for the resignation of Provincial Administrator Vivian Dabu and proceed to the city proper and the Capitol grounds here.

The group will also "reclaim" their former rally post at the Arnedo Park after the Provincial Board (PB), through the prodding of civil society groups, has declared it a freedom park.

Previously, the picketing Balas members were persuaded to move their rally near the perimeter of the park after arguments surfaced on the legality of holding a rally in the said park.

Almost three weeks have passed since their day one picket but the Balas members have yet to be answered by the governor on the "reforms" they are demanding.

The group has also been calling for the resignation of Dabu.

They said that they would see to it that Dabu will resign or be removed by Governor Eddie Panlilio before they leave their rally post at the Arnedo Park.
