THE Alliance of Travel and Tour Agencies of Pampanga Inc. (Attap) in cooperation with the Department of Tourism (DOT) is set to hold its 1st FesTEEval Showdown (A Golf Tournament for a Cause) on October 15 at the Mimosa Golf and Country Club, Clark Freeport Zone, Pampanga.
This was announced by Tourism Regional Director Ronaldo Tiotuico in a press statement issued recently.
Tiotuico said the golf tournament is meant to complement the existing promotional campaign of the DOT regional office to boost travel and tourism in this part of the province through sports tourism and adventure travel. It also serve as a launching pad for Attap's major projects and activities for the next few years, among which include major familiarization tours in selected countries in the Asean region.
The project also seeks to provide financial contribution for the livelihood program of the Pampanga Deaf Association, now a major project of the DOT regional office which was launched recently.
About 20 jobless hearing impaired have been given livelihood through a bread-making program to help them earn a decent living and complement the effort of the government for more jobs created in the countryside. The program is expected to replicate in the City of San Fernando where similar cases of physical disability exists.
Belen Guzman of Ecozone Travel, project chairman, said the first golf tournament of the travel association is expected to draw 150 professional and amateur golfers in Pampanga and Metro Manila and is seen as one of the driving forces in boosting travel to the region.
A host of major prizes ranging from free roundtrip plane tickets to the US and some Asean countries is at stake during the awarding and TEE party in the evening of the same day.
Attap president Paz Gozum of Go-Paz Travel will preside during the awarding ceremonies.
