Balas Boys: Removing Dabu from BAC, Balas not enough

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The removal of Provincial Administrator Vivian Dabu from her chairmanship in the Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) and the Biyaya A Luluguran at Sisikapan (Balas) "is not enough," according to the dismissed members of the quarry monitoring task force.

On Monday, the protesting Balas Boys even berated Pampanga Governor Eddie Panlilio for what they tagged as "a deception" on the part of the priest-turned-governor.

Earlier, Panlilio said he will relieve Dabu of her chairmanships in the BAC and Balas quarry task force.

This, according to Panlilio, will not only "unburden" her (Dabu) of heavy demands that the positions call for but will also "hopefully create a win-win situation" for contending parties in the issue regarding the dismissal of the protesting Balas Boys.

However, rather than taking the move as a positive gesture on the part of the governor, the Balas members said nothing will change in the situation within the Capitol.

Most of the Balas members are pessimistic that Dabu will no longer meddle in the affairs of the two units.

"The real solution here is for Dabu to be relieved or for her to resign," Ocampo said, adding that the protesting Balas members are holding on to their stand to see the provincial administrator out of the Capitol.

Roperlee Syquia, a former Balas employee, said Dabu will still have influence over the current employees of Balas.

Dabu, said she is willing to leave her BAC and Balas chairmanships if directed by the governor, which has yet to discuss the matter with her. (IOF)
