Gonzales formally awarded scholarships to the high school and elementary students at the N. Vergara-David Public School in Barangay Anao, this town.

The recipients came from Anao Elementary School with 690 beneficiaries; Anao High School with 1,003 recipients; and Arayat National High School with 93 beneficiaries.

Attending the ceremony were principals Amalia Serrano, Remedios Asuncion and Ricardo Salalila and barangay officials here.

The total amount of the scholarships for the students is P2 million, according to the lawmaker.

Since his assumption to office, Gonzales has distributed a total of 6,760 scholarships to students in various towns of his district.

"This project of the congressman would surely help our poor students here and would better inspire them to do better in their studies. The teachers of Anao would be encouraging these pupils and students not to waste this valuable opportunity," Serrano told the people in attendance.

For his part, Gonzales said he is committing to more scholarship grants and assistance to more indigent students in Mexico and Arayat.
