The suspect was identified as Crisanto Salucop, 50, a resident of Abad Santos Street in Barangay Dau in the town. He was the suspect in the killing of Mario Pascual, 33, of Mabini Street, also in Barangay Dau, Mabalacat.

Police said the victim was on board his motorcycle and talking to a friend along Quezon Drive in Barangay Dau when the suspect appeared from nowhere and suddenly shot the victim at the back.

The suspect then ran towards his residence and even fired his gun a few times in the air.

The witness, Nestor Campos, reported the incident to the police. He identified the suspect as the one who shot Pascual.

Arresting policemen rushed to Salucop's residence to arrest him, but his son Adelon told them that his father was not around.

However, the policemen did not believe the younger Salucop and searched the area until they saw the suspect running towards the back of his house.

The suspect was later arrested.

Confiscated from the suspect was a caliber .38 revolver.

The suspect is facing murder charges, while his son was charged with obstruction of justice before the Provincial Prosecutor's Office in the City of San Fernando.

According to Jemma Dueza, sister of the victim, Salucop had repeated arguments with his brother in the past.

"I have asked Mario to forget his arguments with my brother and try to forgive him. I did not actually think that he will resort to this," Dueza said. (IOF)
