CLARK FREEPORT -- Officials of the Yokohama Tire Philippines Incorporated (YTPI) have commended the working skills and attitude of Filipino workers employed in the giant tire manufacturing firm.
"They have very good ideas. You will be surprised with their suggestions related to their work," Hikomitsu Noji, president and chief executive officer of YTPI, said of their Filipino workers.
Noji issued the statement during a briefing with some journalists here last Thursday.
The local journalists visited the tire manufacturing plant where they were briefed about the company's profile and tire production.
YTPI produces an average of 19,600 tires per day or an equivalent of 550,000 to 600,000 tires a month.
According to Noji, 96.9 percent of their total production is exported to other countries particularly in Europe and America while 3.1 percent is for local sales.
The YTPI's vision is to be loved by customers. Its mission is to provide good tires with good price in good timing, to implement environmental protection programs, and to expand sales by expanding production.
Noji admitted that still do not meet the high demand of tire supply at present. "That is why we need to expand (operations and production)," he said.
The Yokohama Rubber Company, in partnership with Kawasho Corporation, established in April 1996 YTPI, the firm's first manufacturing facility in Asia outside Japan. Its aim is to produce Yokohama brand passenger car radial (PRC) and recreational vehicle (RV) tires for the global market.
Other YTPI officials who accompanied Noji in accommodating the journalists were Shigeru "Bruce" Nakano, vice president and plant operation division head; Tomohiro Yoneko, treasurer; Juanito Arona, assistant vice president and assistant division head of plant operations; and Geraldine Bautista, general services section head.
