Monday, September 22, 2008 Informal settlers to get lots By Reynaldo G. Navales
ANGELES CITY -- Hundreds of families dwelling in a private property at Sitio Mali in Barangay Cutcut here will soon acquire the lots they are presently occupying.
Lot owners have already agreed to sell the property to the occupants at minimal amount.
The council of Barangay Cutcut has been negotiating with the Bernardo Family of the City of San Fernando for the awarding of the property to the settlers.
Cutcut chairman Robin Nepomuceno said more than 300 families would benefit from the program.
The owners of property led by Ramon Bernardo showed the lot title to the occupants and barangay leaders during their meeting here last Saturday.
Lener Biag, Nepomuceno's aide, said some of the settlers, especially those occupying Phase 1 and Phase 2 of the property, already began paying to the Bernardo family.
A portion of the property has already been converted to residential area, but a part of the sitio is still categorized as agricultural land.
Nepomuceno lauded the generosity of the Bernardos for agreeing to award the whole property to the residents.
