Sharing the gift of Quota: Liboro visits Pampanga

FRESH from her US trip, District Governor Lin Liboro visited Quota International Pampanga to check on the accomplishments of Pampanga's finest women as well as to keep the local chapter abreast with the world happenings of Quota International.

President May Bergmann clearly impressed the district governor's delegation with a cacophony of projects that focused on social concerns. The delegation was welcomed by past president Emy Narciso.

Quota International, founded in 1919, is an international service organization that links members of all ages, occupations, and nationalities in a worldwide network of service and friendship.

With a motto of "we share," Quotarians are known especially for their service to deaf, hard-of-hearing, and speech-impaired individuals and disadvantaged women and children. Quota members share the values of serving and encouraging others, developing friendships, and promoting international understanding. In the Philippines, Quota has been in existence for more than 30 years.

True enough, Quota Pampanga, with members from Pampanga's upper society of accomplished women, has been in the forefront of much provincial social work. Chief of which is the Operation Smile, which provided free surgery to children with facial deformities in San Fernando and Angeles City.

Quota has also joined hands with the Kapampangan Development Foundation in the Walking Free Pampanga program that aims to provide artificial limbs to the province's amputees. Of course, there are also the usual projects like feeding programs, book donations, and medical missions among others.

Governor Lin urged the Quota members to adhere to this year's theme of "Sharing the Gift of Quota."

"You must share what Quota means to you to other. The greatest gift that you can give to Quota in return is recruiting new members," Liboro said, stressing that the Pampanga Chapter has always been active in civic works and more of these activities should be conducted.

The meeting also discussed the future national and local conventions as well as other plans for the district. The meeting adjourned with sumptuous meal sponsored by Past President Eva Mallari and the response of President Bergmann that the Pampanga Chapter will continuously make the presence of Quota fell in this side of the province.
