City slaughterhouse gets 'AA' status

ANGELES CITY -- The National Meet Inspection Commission (NMIC) has upgraded the classification of this city's slaughterhouse to "AA" status.

This, after the city slaughterhouse operated by a private firm, Dealco Farms, Incorporated, complied with the provisions of Republic Act (RA) 9296 and Executive Order (EO) 137.

RA 9296 is an act strengthening the meat inspection in the country, ordaining for this purpose a meat inspection code of the Philippines and for other purposes.

Mayor Francis "Blueboy" Nepomuceno said the accreditation of the city slaughterhouse is an assurance that the meats of hogs, cattle and other animals sold in the city are safe for public consumption.

"This is an assurance to all residents, visitors, and investors that the slaughtering of hogs, cattle, and other animals for public consumption within the city have passed the strict and quality management system of the meat inspection commission," Nepomuceno said.

Lawyer Jane Bacayo of the Department of Agriculture, handed the Certificate of Accreditation of "AA" Standard Abattoirs to officers of the Angeles City Slaughterhouse in simple rites held at the agency's head office in Manila recently.

City Administrator Ireneo Alvaro Jr., meanwhile, deputized 13 meat inspectors led by Arnold Seneres. (RGN)
