Friday, October 24, 2008 Staying on Course: The BMW 1, 3 Series and BMW X3 now standard with BMW Navigation Plus
INTRODUCING the first viable Navigation System in the Philippines.
Part of Sheer Driving Pleasure is the confidence and convenience of knowing exactly which way to go. In this regard, BMW Philippines has introduced another first in the local automotive industry: the BMW Navigation System, which now comes as a standard feature on all BMW 1 Series and 3 Series models.
The pioneering BMW Navigation System is a portable Global Positioning System (GPS) device that maps out directions to selected destinations. Users simply have to input their destination on the 3.5 inch touch screen and the BMW Navigation System instantly provides guidance through a pre-installed map that covers major thoroughfares in cities and municipalities around the Philippines.
For further convenience and safety, the BMW Navigation System can even provide voice directions complete with street names, so drivers never have to take their eyes off the road. On the other hand, should the user prefer to mute the voice directions, the colored monitor is easily readable even under direct sunlight, making it easy to determine directions at a glance.
Nationwide, upgradable coverage
While the detailed map on the BMW Navigation System already covers majority of cities and provinces around the Philippines, continuous upgrades will also be made available at all authorized BMW dealerships. In addition, the BMW Navigation System accepts custom Points of Interest (POI) so drivers can program their preferred destinations and personalize their devices to suit their daily drives.
Bluetooth and MP3 technology
The BMW Navigation System also integrates Bluetooth wireless technology with a built-in microphone and speaker that can be paired with most mobile phones so drivers can make hands-free calls. The unit’s built-in MP3 player can likewise be hooked up to the Aux-in jack of the BMW 3 Series for endless miles of music.
Other innovative features include a JPEG picture viewer, world travel clock with time zones, currency converter, measurement converter, and calculator.
Stylish and Ergonomic
The BMW Navigation System seamlessly integrates with the modern interior of the BMW 1 Series and 3 Series. The portable navigation unit is fitted on the vehicle dashboard directly above the interior trim on the instrument panel with a secure and specially developed cockpit mount. In its secure position, the device can be read without vibration and operated with ease.
The system is also directly connected to the power supply from the onboard network of the BMW 1 Series and 3 Series, which therefore charges the device while the vehicle is in operation. The unit’s integrated accumulator battery then allows owners to use the BMW Navigation System outside the car for four to six hours as a portable city map.
