CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- After making Kapampangans proud for being recognized by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) as the most outstanding chamber, the Pampanga Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PamCham) also earned the admiration of the Pampanga Provincial Board (PB).
The PB, in its regular session last Monday, unanimously approved the motion of Second District Board Member Catalina Bagasina for the passage of a resolution congratulating the PamCham for bagging the award.
"The PamCham has been an active partner of the Provincial Government of Pampanga in terms of growth and development of our province. This organization is very admirable, taking into consideration the unity of the members and the accomplishments of the chamber as a whole," Bagasina said.
PCCI, the largest business organization in the country, has recognized PamCham for its "commendable efforts in accelerating business growth in the area as evidenced by its exemplary leadership and dynamism, strong advocacy program, good working relationship with government, increased membership base and effective delivery of services."
The award was conferred to PamCham last October 22, the third day of the Philippine Business Conference (PBC) held from October 20 to 22 at the Manila Hotel.
President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo personally conferred the award to PamCham president Renato Romero of the Romac Group of Companies.
The PB resolution is set to be presented to PamCham in the coming days.
Romero, on the other hand, said PamCham is honored by the move of the PB. The resolution would serve as a guiding inspiration for PamCham to do its best to promote local entrepreneurship.
"We are aiming now to continue our winning streak and at least bag the same award from PCCI for two years more," Romero said. This in turn would allow PamCham to qualify in the recognitions given by the Confederation of Asia-Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI), the next biggest chamber association outside of the country.
"It is but fitting and proper, as our partner in bringing unrelenting progress to Pampanga, that we express our congratulations to the chamber," Bagasina, who chairs the PB committee on Trade and Industry, said. (IOF)
