Thursday, November 06, 2008 Police: Priest drove Revo in gory NLEx mishap
MABALACAT -- Police here have clarified that it was not the female Ateneo law student who was driving the ill-fated Toyota Revo vehicle, when it was rammed by a Fermina Express passenger bus along the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) in Barangay Mabiga here on All Saints' Day.
"We were informed by relatives of Ferrer that Fr. Moraleda was the one driving the Revo," Flores said.
Earlier, policemen here stated in their report that 22-year-old Ruth Diane Ferrer was the one driving the private vehicle.
Sun.Star Pampanga reported on Monday that it was not clear who was driving the Toyota Revo, as the strong impact had displaced the two victims from their respective places inside the vehicle.
On Monday, police filed Reckless Imprudence Resulting to Multiple Homicide and Physical Injuries against the bus driver in the broad daylight accident along NLEx here on November 1.
Six persons died and 51 others were injured in the mishap.
Mabalacat chief of police Jovencio Flores said the case was filed against Bernardo Villanueva Santos before the Office of the Provincial Prosecutor in the City of San Fernando.
Pacita Padua-Oloa of Barangay Malioer, Bayambang Pangasinan, sister of a passenger -- Adela Padua, 63 -- who was killed in the accident, initiated the filing of charges against Santos.
Other fatalities were Aurelia Montera and an unidentified female bus passenger.
Around noon on Saturday, November 1, the bus occupied the southbound lane and rammed the Revo, which was totally wrecked because of the impact of collision.
All of the other 51 bus passengers sustained injuries and were brought to different hospitals in the town and nearby Angeles City. (RGN)
