Presidential group for Education consultative meetings on

THE Presidential Task Force for Education (PTFE) will start its consultative meetings with heads of higher education institutions (HEIs), and state colleges and universities (SUCs) in the country on November 6.

PTFE chairman and Ateneo de Manila University president Jesuit priest Bienvenido Nebres made this announcement.

Grouped into clusters, the regional meetings are scheduled as follows:

* National Capital Region - November 6 at the Seameo-Innotech Headquarters, Quezon City;
* Central Luzon - November 7 at the Angeles University Foundation, Angeles City;
* Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, and Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) - November 8 at the Pan Pacific University North Philippines, Urdaneta City;
* Western, Central and Eastern Visayas on November 13 at the Cebu Doctors University, Mandaue City;
* Zamboanga, Northern Mindanao, Davao, Cotabato, Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (Armm), and Caraga on November 18 at Ateneo de Davao (Jacinto Campus), Davao City;
* and Calabarzon, Mimaropa and Bicol on November 28 at the University of Batangas, Batangas City.

The PTFE was formed by President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo in August 2007 to propose recommendations to improve the country's education system.

It is composed of Fr. Nebres, chairman; Commission on Higher Education (Ched) Chairman Emmanuel Angeles, co-chairman; and members - Department of Education (DepEd) secretary Jesli Lapus, Technical Skills and Development Authority (Tesda) director-general Augusto Syjuco, Jr.; presidential assistant for education, Mona Dumlao-Valisno, Kalayaan College president Jose Abueva; Asian Institute of Management (AIM) professor Victor Limlingan; special ambassador for economic affairs Donald Dee; COCOPEA and University of San Carlos president Rev. Fr. Roderick Salazar, Jr. and Professional Regulations Commission chair Dr. Leonor Tripon-Rosero.
