More infra projects in 2009
By Chris Navarro

PORAC -- The local government has vowed to implement more infrastructure projects in the 29 barangays here.

Mayor Rogelio Santos on Thursday said in his first term as local chief executive, he has focused his sight in providing much needed infrastructure projects such as barangay roads, farm-to-market road, canals, covered courts, school buildings, barangay halls, lighting system and others.

Santos said at least 70 percent of all 29 villages here have benefited from various infrastructure projects funded by the local government unit (LGU) and Second District Representative Mikey Arroyo.

On Thursday, Santos, together with Sta. Cruz Barangay Chairman Merlito Bengco and councilmen, led the inauguration and blessing of the 210-meter long barangay road funded by the Municipal Government at P800,000.

At least two barangay roads in Sta. Cruz, measuring 20 to 300 meters were concreted, while two others were rehabilitated.

"We are now focused on fixing our roads and other infra projects because we believe that this is the start of the progress of our town - good roads and other projects which will surely benefit our people," Santos said.

Another project of Santos administration is the putting up of footbridges in remote barangays and waiting shed for commuters and tricycle drivers along the highway.
