GOVERNOR Ed Panlilio has suddenly discovered a pleasant reality that, henceforth, could change dramatically the state of affairs at the provincial Capitol.
And it could not have come at a more appropriate time of the year.
The priest-governor was in the lion's den last Wednesday to attend a public hearing by Provincial Board on the P30 million funding for the Special Assistance Fund for Education.
His presence proved to be more than just an interesting one. It produced the results the governor wanted. He got the Board's approval.
Panlilio was so pleased with the surprise outcome he decided he would do more of the same in the future.
"I will likely attend more of these sessions if I have to because it is for the benefit of our people," he was quoted as happily saying.
Even if that means going through the hard and relentless grilling that he and his group were subjected to by Vice Governor Joseller Guiao and other PB members.
Panlilio even came with provincial administrator Vivian Dabu, conveying the message probably that both would want to improve their relationship with the Board.
In this season of feel-good, Panlilio's awakening not only to the realities of politics but its pleasant possibilities gives hope to many who just about given up on a harmonious relationship between the province's executive and legislative.
This is a good way forward.
If should have come earlier, but it's not late for such an improved relationship in Pampanga. Hopefully, this should put an end to the interminable bickering and buck-passing that have characterized politics and governance at the provincial Capitol since Panlilio took over last year.
Panlilio and Guiao can probably start exchanging good words, instead of mere wishes, this time around.
