CLTV36 to air Giant Lantern Festival ’08 live

THE City of San Fernando’s Ligligan Parul promises to be the most spectacular display of lights and color that the whole of Pampanga or for that matter, the entire Philippines, has ever seen.

The year 2008 is also a special occasion for Fernandinos as it marks the 100th year of the Christmas lantern making industry. This milestone event will be held on December 20 and broadcasted LIVE on CLTV 36, the Giant Lantern Festival’s official media partner.

Ching Pangilinan, Tourism Officer of the City of San Fernando enthused, “It’s been a hundred years of enduring tradition and excellence of the people of San Fernando. The way we interpret the lantern speaks of our people’s creativity and genius.”

Showcasing the best and most talented craftsmen of San Fernando are the nine participating barangays and their designers: Toto Bondoc for San Juan and Sta. Lucia; Cesar Sicat for Dolores; Arnel Flores for Telabastagan; Edwin David, Jr. for San Nicolas; Omar Quiwa for San Pedro; Roland Quiambao for del Pilar; Erning Quiwa for Sto. Niño and Cesareo Sason for San Jose.

The event, according to the City Government of San Fernando, is proof of how the craftsmanship and innovation of the locals has propelled the local Christmas lantern industry to the national and the international scene.

City Tourism Officer Pangilinan also added that she is very happy with their partnership with CLTV36. “Like our parul, CLTV36 is also a symbol of the achievements of the people of Region 3, and is also a source of pride for all of us.”

Don’t miss the momentous centennial of the parol in a special Giant Lantern Festival as nine barangays of lantern makers as they compete on your one and only regional TV Station, CLTV 36.

The coverage is sponsored by One Crown Plaza, Celtech, Tita’s, E.L. Valerio, International Eye Center, Razon’s, G.C. Masangcay, Navarro’s, LausGroup and Sharon’s House of Wedding Gowns.
