Guv to Dabu: 'You appear unreasonable'

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Provincial Administrator Vivian Dabu said Governor Eddie Panlilio told her she appeared "unreasonable" regarding her handling of the claims and appeal for the back wages of the protesting sacked quarrymen of the Biyaya A Luluguiran at Sisikapan (Balas).

Dabu issued the statement to Sun.Star, as she refused to comment any further on the issue of the protesters' back pays, that she was advised by the priest-governor that she appeared unreasonable when she said in newspaper reports that she was waiting for a formal communication from San Fernando Electric Company (Sfelapco) certifying that they already have acquired their own power meter for their electricity in their picket line.

In earlier interviews, Dabu said that she needs an assurance that the protesters would no longer connect to the Capitol's mainlines for her to release their night differentials and overtime pays and cash gifts.

She also stated in a letter to the protesters that such backpays would only be released if they would disconnect their power lines from the Capitol's source.

Upon receiving the letter and reacting to the reports, the protesters applied for ac power meter which was installed two weeks ago and submitted to Dabu the documents furnished them by Sfelapco, but without the official communication, since the city power provider said "it is not their practice to do so."

With all of Dabu's demands met, the protesters waited for the release of their backwages and appealed again to Panlilio and Dabu through a letter for the immediate release of their claims in the name of "justice" and the Capitol executives' sense of Godliness.

As this developed, Panlilio said that he would immediately look into the matter and facilitate the early release of the protesters' claims.

According to him, he would confer with Dabu, who said that the decision on the matter rests now with the governor.

"Why shouldn't I give what is due them?” Panlilio said. (JTDL)
