Wednesday, December 24, 2008 Hospital patients get Christmas goodies
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Patients of Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital received Christmas goodies from employees and officials of the City of San Fernando Water District (CSFWD) last Tuesday.
About 150 indigent patients received packs of canned goods and fruits in CSFWD's annual gift giving program in the hospital.
According CSWFD manager Jorge Gumba, the event is their own way of saying thanks for the blessings that has come to the water utility and its employees.
"This is something we look forward to each year. This is also serves as our outreach program where we a lot some funds to help patients who are spending their Christmas inside the hospital. If they cannot go home with their families to celebrate Christmas, we try to bring Christmas to them," he said.
Gumba said the water district has allotted P50,000 for the goods that were distributed.
Lourdes Guzman, 28, a mother of a severely malnourished child named Andrea, said that the goods would be of great help as they celebrate Christmas inside the hospital.
"We were supposed to not really prepare anything this Christmas since our money is just enough to pay for the medicines and the hospital bill. Fortunately, there are people who would go out of their way to help others, we are very grateful," Guzman said. (IOF)
