My answer has always been that I always try to make it a point and try to see that each year gets better and better. I cannot complain or so I answer those who asked. Especially with all the blessings that come my way.
Praise God, He is indeed so good to me, my family, my friends.
As we also celebrate the yuletide, I am writing some wishes for some key personalities and even entities. Here are some of them:
Rep. Dong Gonzales. A worthy opponent. With elections still a year and a half to go, I see no formidable possible candidate that can go neck and neck against the good Congressman from the third district. Media circles are also baffled as to who could challenged him well. With his sterling performance in Congress, I think selecting an opponent will be like finding a needle in a haystack.
Mayor Oscar Rodriguez. The Governor's word. There have been stories that Gov. Ed Panlilio, at this early, is already endorsing the good mayor to become the next governor of the province. With all the stories I hear about how inconsistent the priest-turned-politician could get, Mayor Oca should find no confidence in plain I-Choose-Him-My-Successor endorsement.
Gov. Ed Panlilio. A national post. The good governor will do Pampanga one big, big favor if he leaves the provincial governance to someone who is not odds with a lot of people and leaders. He can take his crusade of good governance to a higher level. He has already proven his point in the provincial level. Things is, his enmity with a great number of local politicians is already counter productive.
Mayor Boking Morales. Cityhood. This, I should say, is one elusive crown for the mayor. With his nth term as the chief executive of a premier town, he can accomplish this mission within the next two years or so. Good luck mayor and enjoy your new office at Xevera Tabun, Mabalacat.
Vice Gov. Yeng Guiao. Recall elections. The good vice governor can make it to the top provincial post if recall elections will push through. That is, of course, if he becomes the only one common candidate of kingmakers in Pampanga who will challenge Panlilio to a one-on-one duel. I need not mention here that if the elections were like a basketball, Guiaowill definitely be the crowd favorite. And he will be like the well-trained healthy player who will play against somebody who is already injured.
Sec. Ed Pamintuan. Good health. I heard he suffered aneurism of a blood vessel in the eye? Wow, that is something. That is usually caused by stress and hypertension. The good secretary has been working so hard and he deserves some rest too. That's the problem when you are really liked by your boss (in his case, PGMA). He is entrusted with a lot of jobs and this is obvious with the various designations and positions he now occupies.
Shoemart. Peace with Mayor Rodriguez (and Director Tiotuico too). One reason why the Ligligan Parol (Giant Lantern Festival) was held at SM's competitor - Robinsons - was that the mayor was piqued by the last minute cancellation of scheduled meeting(s?) between him and SM executives. I wish for that to be ironed out. This may and may not require mighty PR work.
Rene Romero. Less corruption. The chairman of the Advocacy for the Development of Central Luzon and his group did great things for 2008. They have espoused for honest and good governance. But in terms of infrastructure projects (say highways), Romero wants to see an implementation of projects that meet the required standards. In particular, he wants to see highways and roads that do not easily break up and have potholes. The proposal for the DPWH to build concrete (not asphalt) pavements is also one good undertaking.
