Wednesday, January 14, 2009 SM gives smile to 200 Aeta kids
THE recent holiday season brought smiles to the Aeta kids of Sitio San Martin, Bamban Tarlac.
SM Foundation together with SM City Clark joined CDC-CESO (Commission Extension Services Office) in bringing cheers to about 200 Aeta kids when a special party was held recently in the barangay.
The special activity, spearheaded by CDC-CESO head Felicisima Rondolo, aimed to spread joy to the kids during the Christmas season. According to her, the kids even had a blast of fun in "Ka-boom carnival in Clark" where they were treated to a night of fun, free carnival rides, and snacks.
SM Foundation Outreach office, headed by Ms. Christie Angeles, organized a short but fun-filled "Make a Child happy" program for the kids where games and other interactive activities took place, tokens and other prizes were distributed during the program.
Kids as young as two years old and their parents enjoyed food from Jollibee and Dunkin Donuts.
The simple program started with a short prayer by a young Aeta lady by the name of Me-an followed by a dance performance of six young ladies from the same barangay.
The children's excitement was very much felt even by their parents, especially when they actively participated in the games facilitated by SM Foundation.
They all screamed with joy when toys of different shapes and sizes were distributed to each of them. There were extra boxes of toys and Dunkin Doughnuts, which were distributed later that afternoon at Sitio San Rafael where a total of 40 Aeta kids were able to receive.
Rondollo and SM City Clark's assistant mall manager Lana Erroba led the distribution, together with marketing officer Denise Murillo and PR officer Roselle Sarmiento.
It was a joyful for the indigent kids who were able to receive the said toys and experience the fun and excitement that day. It even made their parents share their heartfelt thanks to both CDC-CESO office and SM.
It was truly a happy Christmas after all for the indigent kids of Sitio San Martin and Sitio San Rafael. SM Foundation and CDC-CESO office are expected to conduct more community programs this year.
