May 1, a busy day for Arroyo

MAY 1 will be a busy day for President Arroyo, when she flies in to Pangasinan to celebrate with her fellow Pangasinenses.

May 1 is a national holiday with the observance of Labor Day. But more than anything else, it is a special day in the province because of general celebration of the Pista'y Dayat and the Bangus Festival in Dagupan City.

In Dagupan City, Arroyo will be the keynote speaker during the opening of the First National Bangus Industry Congress, after which she will lead the groundbreaking ceremony of the Bangus Processing Plant in Bagong Barrio, Bonuan Gueset. Both activities are scheduled in the morning.

At 11:30 a.m., after the twin events, the president will motor to Lingayen town to grace the Pista'y Dayat festivities. She will be welcomed by Gov. Victor E. Agbayani and the members of the Provincial Board (PB) led by Vice Gov. Oscar S. Lambino.

Riding on the presidential car, GMA will join the Bangkarosa float parade and street dancing which will end in front of the Capitol building where the awarding ceremony will be held.

Ms. Myla Mendoza, provincial tourism officer said President Arroyo will announce the winners, as well as award the cash prizes and trophies, of the Search for the Cleanest Coastal Municipality/City of Pangasinan. There are 13 coastal towns and cities in the province.

There will be two winners from each of the set two categories while the town of Bani will be elevated to the Hall of Fame having successively won the same recognition for a number of years.

The president will also award the prizes to the winners (three each category) in the street dancing and Bangkarosa (float).

A lunch will be hosted for the president at the Urduja House. After which she will fly back to Manila. LMY
