Village chief faces frustrated homicide rap

A BARANGAY chairman in Rosales town will be facing frustrated homicide as the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) district office in Dagupan City headed by agent-in-charge Atty. Ricardo Pangan Jr. filed the case in court.

This developed after Fernando Camcam, brother-in-law of Palawan Barangay Chairman Renato Orel, filed a complaint before the NBI against him late April.

Investigations conducted by NBI Special Agent Gerard Geralde and investigation agent Ferdinand Real disclosed that on March 17 this year, Camcam was having a conversation with one Ramon Valeroso and some other persons.

It was at that instance when Orel, aboard his motorcycle, arrived at the site purportedly drunk, and challenged the people there.

"Sinno iti lallaki idtoy (Who is man enough here?)," the barangay official said in the Iloco dialect, but which they did not mind.

However, Orel's son Efren said: "Awan, amang (None, dad)."

The barangay captain allegedly irked at his son's reply, drew his gun, a caliber .45 pistol, and fired at Efren twice.

Due to this, Camcam tried to pacify his brother-in-law, but Orel also shot him.

Not yet contented with what he did to his son, who remained lying in the ground already bathing with his own blood, Orel shot Efren again that led to his instant death.

A case of homicide has also been prepared so that the NBI could readily file it once Orel's family would file a formal complain. FPM
