Ladies circle launches Itaw

THE Dagupan Ladies Circle (DLC) has launched a project to help teen-age girls from poor families get free education.

"Itaw," means female teenager.

Launched at the Bonuan Tondaligan beach on June 15 during the 42nd anniversary of the DLC, Itaw aims to give support to poor female teenage girls in pursuing their schooling.

The group targets the girls who could not go to school because they are burdened by taking care of their younger siblings because their parents are away at work.

DLC president Fe Guadiz-Vasquez said the main project is sanitation and beautification of Dagupan City. The group also helped indigents by providing livelihood projects for them.

Aside from Vasquez, the other officers are Lydia Oviedo Tangco, vice president; Lina Melecio Tan and Linda Coquia Cruz, secreatries; Baby Balinguit and Maxima Barrozo Bernal, treasuers; Cora Chan, business manager; and Consolacion Roy, auditor.

The officers and members are now planning to have a fund raising project called "Music Concert" to be able to accomplish their objectives.
