Police chief pursues Oplan 'Bagnus' By Lorna C. Hermogeno
CALASIAO -- Chief Inspector Rogelio Danoli, Calasiao Police chief, has recently launched Oplan "Bagnus" to combat cattle-rustling.
Danoli said criminal elements called "Bagnus," have been victimizing the farming community, stealing farmers' cattle, and equipment.
"Every farmer deserves to be given protection to fulfill their dream, that of sending their children to school and attain a good education for a better future," Danoli said, stressing that Oplan Bagnus will help rid the agricultural town of thieves.
As an agricultural town, Calasiao depends much on the farms to keep its thousands of residents alive. Method of farming is slowly being mechanized through the use of hand tractors, "kuliglig" although some are still stuck to the old, reliable way with the help of their large cattles.
Danoli had organized barangay leaders and civilian volunteers to closely monitor incidents in their respective barangay and report every activity to the Philippine National Police.
