Neda employee gypped
AN EMPLOYEE of the regional office of the National Economic Development Authority (Neda) filed a complaint before the city police of Dagupan against a man stole her cell phone.
Lea Bautista, 26, single, a resident of Barangay Casibong in San Jacinto and an employee of Neda regional office in San Fernando City, La Union said Narciso Santos Jr. borrowed her 8310 cell phone worth P10,000 but did not return it.
Bautista said Santos introduced himself through a cell phone call on Wednesday at their house in San Jacinto as she was on leave.
Santos said he is a native of Lingayen, who is temporarily living in Baguio City, where he is employed at Saint Louis University and has a rest house.
Bautista further told SPO2 Pedro Urbano, desk officer at the city police station, Santos purportedly came to know of her phone number through her friends who happen to be also his friends.
The man even told Bautista that a long-time friend of hers wanted to see her and they would meet at a fastfood restaurant along A.B. Fernandez Avenue in Dagupan City in the afternoon.
Bautista went to the meeting place at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday.
Due to the description earlier told her, she was able to identify Santos inside the restaurant.
They ordered food and while they were eating, Santos told Bautista he has to call somebody for an important matter but could not do so because his cell phone fell while on his way to the restaurant and needed repair.
Bautista gave in to the request of Santos and allowed him her cell phone.
The suspect dialed a number thrice, after which he stood up and asked permission from Bautista to go out to park his car properly.
After five minutes when the suspect did not return, she went out of the restaurant but the suspect was nowhere to be found.
The victim admitted that the suspect was smartly dressed and had fair complexion, and added she never entertained the thought that he was a con artist.
She further disclosed that she called up SLU and inquired if there was such an employee connected there but was told there was none. FPM
