Crimes, tragedy noted during All Saints' Day

DAGUPAN -- Police authorities recorded various crimes and tragedy during the observance of All Saints' Day in Pangasinan.

In San Carlos City, policemen are still investigating the motive behind the stabbing of a farmer and the biting off of the ear of a man by his uncle.

Stabbed was Andres V. Tamondong, of legal age, widower and resident of Barangay Turac in this city.

Tamondong went to a sari-sari store to buy when he met there the suspect, Cesar Bulatao, a resident of the same barangay. The suspect stabbed Tamondong in the armpit and stomach.

Reggie Norberte, a 21-year-old from Barangay Real, Urbiztondo, on the other hand, was taken to the Virgen Milagrosa Medical Center (VMMC) where doctors re-attached his ear that had been bitten off by his uncle.

Norberte and his uncle Joel were having a drinking spree when they argued over an old grudge. Joel reportedly bit off his nephew's ear.

In Calasiao town, the Municipal Police Office received a call Monday night about stabbing incident in Barangay Malabago.

Municipal Police Chief Policarpio Cayabyab and some of his men responded and arrested Rudy Basames for allegedly stabbing to death Modesto Tumanan.

Tumanan was pronounced dead on arrival at the Pangasinan Provincial Hospital of a lone stab wound on the chest.

The motive behind the killing, police said, was an old grudge.

Likewise, a couple drowned last November 1 while swimming off Lingayen beach.

They were Genalyn Pablo y Sabotaje, 25, single, and Resituto Jimenez y Asuncion, 26, both residents of Camiling, Tarlac.

The victims were with another drowning victim, Jesus Pablo Jr., 10, a resident of Barangay Tonton in Lingayen town, who was still missing as of press time.

Police said the victims were then enjoying swimming when a big wave covered them and carried them away.

The bodies of Pablo and Jimenez were recovered in the afternoon of the same day. (FPM)
