HAU dominate Milo Little Olympics

DAGUPAN -- The Holy Angel University (HAU) based in Angeles City again showed its supremacy in the Milo Little Olympics after dominating the secondary level for six consecutive years.

Meanwhile, first-timer Urbiztondo Elementary School (located in San Juan, La Union) bagged the championship honor in the elementary level, proving first time participants are not mere spectators.

The 14th edition of the annual Milo Little Olympics (North Luzon leg) was held last October 16, 17, 23 and 24. The participants came from Regions 1, 2, 3 and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR).

The awarding ceremonies are set Thursday at 10 a.m., at the Leisure Coast Resort in Dagupan City. Guests of honor are Gov. Victor E. Agbayani, Vice Gov. Oscar B. Lambino and second district Rep. Amado T. Espino Jr.

Individual recognition will be given 22 athletes (secondary and elementary levels).

Holy Angel University garnered 21 gold, 24 silver and 18 bronze medals.

Urbiztondo Elementary School, on the other hand, collected 19 gold, seven silver and seven bronze medals. Aside from the championship's trophies, the two schools will bring home P40,000 cash prize each.

Second in the secondary level was La Union National High School with 14 gold, 10 silver and 14 bronze medals while third place was Olongapo City National High School which harvested 8 gold, 10 silver and 7 bronze medals.

Sudipen Vocational High Schoo (Sudipen, La Union) placed fourth with eight gold, four silver 10 silver and two bronze medals.

Meantime, Mothergoose Special School System (Dagupan City) made a strong comeback after a one-year absence. It placed second with a total haul of eight gold, five silver and three bronze medals.

Third runner-up was Tamurong Elementary School (Tamurong, Candon City) with six gold, six silver and five bronze medals while Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (Agoo, La Union) placed fourth as it collected two golds, four silvers and four bronze medals.

Second, third and fourth runners-up will receive P20,000, P10,000 and P5,000 each, respectively. Fifth to 10th placers will receive P3,000 each plus plaque of appreciation.

Fifth to 10th placers finishers were (secondary level): San Carlos College (San Carlos City), Benigno V. Aldana National High School (Pozorrubio), University of Luzon (Dagupan City), Little Angel Study Center (Olongapo City), Mothergoose Special Science High School (Dagupan City) and St. Charles Academy (San Carlos City).

Ranking fifth to 10th place in the elementary level are Harvent School (Lingayen), Virgen Milagrosa Child Learning Center (San Carlos City), San Jose Elementary School (Bani), Pangapisan North Elementary School (Lingayen), Lanas Elementary School (Mangaldan) and Inmalog Sur Integrated School of San Fabian.

In the elementary level: Dendhee Gorosope of Tamurong Elem. School (athletics); Rogelio C. Talbo Jr. of Lanas Elem. School (badminton); Generose G. Razo of Tamurong Elem. School (chess); Ulyses Valencia of Pangapisan North Elem. School (football); Dawn Irad C. Millares of Urbiztondo Elem. School (gymnastic); Jordan R. Biazon of Lanas Elem.
