Electric coop seeks rate adjustment

URDANETA CITY -- Pangasinan III Electric Cooperative Incorporated (Panelco) general manager Neri Policina said they filed before the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) a petition for an authority to adopt a tax recovery adjustment charge in its rate with prayer for provisional authority.

Panelco III's first-ever female general manager disclosed that the ERC, finding the cooperative's application sufficient on form and substance, together with the required fees having been paid, has set the hearing of the petition at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on November 26.

The venue will be held at the Benguet Electric Cooperative's DPS Compound in Baguio City.

"Earlier, Panelco III was directed to submit the following documents: municipal ordinances stating the percentage of the local franchise tax within the franchise areas; proof of payments of the relevant taxes; sample of computations using the proposed tax recovery formula; and projected kwh sales per month (from June to December 2004)," Policina said.

"Panelco III is serving the power needs of the province's eastern towns and a lone city, and a requirement we have furnished the City and Municipal Mayors within the covered franchised areas of Panelco's notice of public hearing," she added.

Policina also explained that copies of the application and order of the notice of public hearing were also furnished to the Office of the Solicitor General, the Commission on Audit and the committees on energy of both House of Congress who are requested to have their duly authorized representatives present at the aforesaid initial hearing.

In the area of franchise or their duly representatives, bearing the sales of their offices and the affidavit of the editors or business managers of the newspapers wherein the said notice of hearing were published, together with the complete copies of the issue of the said newspapers were submitted to the ERC on the date of the initial hearing.
