Arroyo to inaugurate Domalandan Bridge on Saturday

PRESIDENT Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be in Lingayen on Saturday to inaugurate the Domalandan Bridge in the town.

Aside from the inauguration, Pangasinenses will also be on the watch as to whether Arroyo will be making some announcements in her visit to Lingayen.

They are anticipating that the President would announce a change in her Cabinet before the election ban on hiring and firing of government workers starts and the reported appointment of National Irrigation Administration (NIA) Chief Arturo Lomibao to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

Earlier reports said Lomibao is being considered for the DPWH portfolio as Secretary Hermogenes Ebdane allegedly will be designated to another Cabinet position.

The NIA chief has declared his intention to run for a political post. He is eyeing the Pangasinan top executive post and a Senate seat.

Meanwhile, those who have declared officially their intentions to run for Pangasinan governor are Vice Governor Oscar Lambino and Second District Representative Amado Espino Jr.

Accordingly, Sixth District Representative Conrado Estrella III will no longer seek the position because there is no official word yet from the camp of Governor Victor Agbayani if his wife, Jamie, would try her luck in the gubernatorial race. There are also no words yet whether the governor, whose house is situated in Lingayen, will seek Espino's post.

Board Members Dionisio Villar, Angel Baniqued, John Agerico Rosario, and Marilyn Primicias-Agabas have already expressed their desire to get the vice gubernatorial post.

In the province's congressional race, First District Representative Arthur Celeste will face retired General Alberto Braganza, while no one has yet to come out to challenge Fifth District Representative Mark Cojuangco and Estrella who will be seeking reelection.

Rachel "Baby" Arenas, daughter of socialite Rosemarie Arenas; Bayambang Mayor Leocadio de Vera; retired police General Reynaldo Velasco; Customs Deputy Commissioner Gallant Soriano; and Generoso Tulagan Jr., son of Pangasinan Third District Representative Generoso Tulagan Sr., will be vying for the post to be vacated by the elder Tulagan.
