Tuesday, May 13, 2008 Espino may now take part in childhood care implementation
LINGAYEN -- The Pangasinan Provincial Board (PB) on Monday approved a resolution authorizing Governor Amado Espino Jr. to enter into an agreement for the implementation of the province’s Early Childhood Care and Development Program (ECCDP).
The MOA will serve as the ticket of the Provincial Government to avail of the grant of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
No board members questioned the passage of the resolution during the hearing.
Vice Governor Marlyn Primicias-Agabas said the resolution is needed in order for the Provincial Government to fully implement the provisions of Republic Act 8980 (An Act Promulgating a Comprehensive Policy and a National System for Early Childhood Care and Development).
Provincial Social Welfare Officer Emil Samson said through the MOA, the Provincial Government can avail of the P16-million fund from the Council of the Welfare of Children covering for three years.
Samson said 15 municipalities were already identified as beneficiaries to the program which is intended for children aged six years old and below.
These are the municipalities of Binmaley, Bugallon, San Fabian, Urbiztondo, Lingayen, Malasiqui, Umingan, Agno, Dasol, Mangaldan, Calasiao, Anda, Bolinao, Basista and Mapandan. (LCMY/Sunnex)
