SAN CARLOS CITY -- Pangasinan third district Representative Ma. Rachel Arenas distributed Thursday morning 1,500 packs of relief goods to her constituents here that are victims of typhoon Cosme.

Another 500 packs were brought by the Abono party-list group.

Vice Mayor Joseres Resuello, who was with Arenas during the distribution, thanked the legislator and the Chinese-Filipino businessmen for extending assistance to San Carlos residents.

He said the City Government immediately acted and started packing and distributing relief goods to their constituents prioritizing the barangays that suffered most from the typhoon.

Resuello also welcomed assistance from other sectors as there are a lot of San Carlenians who need food immediately.

Recipients of relief goods were identified by the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Arenas said her office also distributed relief goods in Calasiao and Sta. Barbara. She will also give out relief goods in other towns in the province's third district.

"We did it (distribution) randomly. We do not wait for the assessment per barangay as the people's need for food is immediate," she said.

She praised Resuello for actively coordinating and informing her of the situation in San Carlos.

At least 73 of the 86 barangays here were severely hit by the storm. About P562,269,620 worth of agricultural crops, livestock and poultry were devastated while 174 public school classrooms were damaged. (LCMY/Sunnex)
