Mendoza who is now 99 years, six months, and 12 days old was born on December 6, 1908. He retired as cashier at Pantranco Bus Company. Rufina Mendoza-Peralth, the seventh of his nine children, accompanied him during the awarding ceremony.
Ferrer, on the other hand, was born at 8 a.m. last Friday at the Region 1 Medical Center here. Her parents are Marvin, a seaman, and Elizarda.

The municipality of Dagupan became a city by virtue of Republic Act (RA) 170 signed by the late President Manuel Roxas on June 20, 1947.
The municipal mayor then was Alipio Fernandez Sr., father of the current Dagupan mayor, while the vice mayor was Dr. Ricardo Villamil. Members of the Municipal Council were Felipe Tanopo, Toribio Quisoming, Marcelino Villamil, Fabian Calimlim, Liberato Ll. Reyna and Rodolfo de Venecia.
Dagupan is an independent component city of the province of Pangasinan.
Its name was derived from the Pangasinan word pandaragupan, which means meeting place.
To this date, the city continues to be the center of trade and commerce and education in Pangasinan.
