Chua assumes Asingan vice mayoralty post
By Liway C. Manantan-Yparraguirre

LINGAYEN -- The town of Asingan, hometown of former President Fidel Ramos, finally has a vice mayor.

Top Councilor Heidi Chua, who has been performing the task as presiding officer of the Municipal Council since July last year, officially took her oath as vice mayor of Asingan before Pangasinan Governor Amado Espino Jr. last Monday afternoon.

She succeeded elected Vice Mayor Mila Antonio who never showed up at the Municipal Council allegedly due to several standing warrants of arrest for estafa.

Aside from Chua, Espino also administered the oath of other newly installed vice mayor and councilors from other towns.

In Basista, Vice Mayor Jocelyn Perez succeeded his father-in-law, Vice Mayor Jesus Perez, who died last month.

In Agno, Councilor Reynaldo Sagana replaced former vice mayor Jose Pajeta Jr., who, on the rule of succession, assumed as mayor after Mayor Arthur Cabantac was killed two months ago.

In San Quintin, former councilor Bayani Villar was chosen to take the post vacated by Councilor Albert Sibayan who was shot dead last July.

In Sta. Barbara, Councilor Conrado Raul Loresco replaced elected Councilor Al Parayno who resigned from his elective post for personal reasons.

It is yet to be resolved who will fill in the councilor positions vacated by Chua of Asingan and Sagana of Agno.
